Vertcoin (VTC) is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and software project. It was introduced in January 2014 as a fork on the Bitcoin protocol. Vertcoin is dedicated to keeping its mining functions decentralized, promising to keep its mining algorithm changeable to prevent ASIC dominance. The identity of the project's founders is mostly anonymous, similar to the beginnings of Bitcoin. They stand by the philosophy of ensuring a fair distribution of coins by resisting centralization in mining.
