Reason for this visit

Cryptocurrency activities are welcome in Estonia. Thanks to Estonian government's open regulation of cryptocurrencies in a positive manner, an increasing number of crypto exchanges are planning to join this market. To help investors or practitioners have a better understanding of these exchanges in Estonia, WikiBit survey team is going to the country for on-site visits to the local companies.

On-site visit

The survey team visited cryptocurrency exchange AURIX (licensee: Aurix Technologies OÜ) in Tallinn, capital of Estonia according to its regulatory address that Akadeemia tee 33-319, Mustamäe linnaosa, Tallinn, Harju maakond, 12618.

The investigators arrived at Akadeemia tee 33, Tallinn, where a modern 4-storey commercial building was situated, with clean and tidy streets nearby. From the company information displayed at the entrance of the building, it could be seen that there was no related information of AURIX.

After entering the building, the investigators didnt spot any information of AURIX, as well as room 319 from company directory. And then the survey personnel arrived at room 319 without anything about AURIX. According to the staff working for the next door company, they never heard of AURIX in the building.

Through an on-site investigation, it is confirmed that AURIX doesnt have a physical presence at the location.

Conclusion

The survey team went to Tallinn, Estonia to visit cryptocurrency exchange AURIX as planned, but didnt find the company at its regulatory address. It suggests that the company just registered at the place without a physical business office. Therefore, investors are advised to choose the exchange cautiously.
