Reason for this visit

With the promulgation of the Korean Financial Special Act, it means the legality of virtual assets have been officially recognized in the Korea, and cryptocurrency exchanges will also be officially regarded as financial institutions. To help investors get a more comprehensive view of the exchanges in this country, the survey team will go to South Korea for on-site visits.

On-site visit

This time the survey team visited the cryptocurrency exchange Korbit in South Korea, with specific address at 4F, 7 Tehran Rd., Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea.  

The survey team came to an office building at 7 Tehran Road in Seoul, which is a relatively grand building and located on a quite busy street.

The cryptocurrency exchange Korbit's logo can be clearly seen on the signboard outside the building, which indicates that the exchange is based on the 4th floor.

The survey team went to the 4th floor and the logo of cryptocurrency exchange Korbit could be seen at the entrance of the office. As it was a weekend when the survey was done, there was no one working in the office. According to the team’s observation, it is estimated that there were 100 cubicles in the office.

Conclusion

The survey team visited the cryptocurrency exchange Korbit in Seoul, South Korea, and found the office scale is quite large, with approximately 100 cubicles, and the office is located in the bustling Gangnam district of Seoul. That is all for this session of Field Survey.
